Dance class observations are a great way for prospective students to gain a better understanding of our college BFA program, and to help determine whether Juilliard is a good fit for their educational and career goals. Class observations are limited to prospective dance students who plan to apply to the 4-year college Bachelor of Fine Arts program within the next 1-2 years.
Please note that due to the volume of observation requests we receive, we are unable to accommodate all requests. Please do not submit a class observation request if have you have not had a minimum of three years of ballet training, or if you are not seriously considering applying to the college program. Information about application and audition requirements is available here.
Dancers may be accompanied by a maximum of two guests, typically a parent, guardian, or teacher. We are unable to accommodate groups for class observations.
Visitors will be observing
—not participating in
—a class. Only students who are enrolled in a full-time program may take dance classes at Juilliard.
Class observations are available on
weekdays only during the academic year. Class observations are
not available on Wednesdays.
Class observations begin in October. The best months for visiting are October, November, February, and April. Class observations are not available during Winter Recess (December 6 - January 20) and Spring Break (February 27 - March 15). College classes are
not in session during the summer months and class observations may
not be scheduled May – September.
Due to the volume of requests we receive, the limited space in our dance studios, and to ensure a quality educational experience for our students, we are unable to accommodate requests from prospective applicants to observe more than one class.
In order to minimize disruption to students' training, dancers and their guests will need to observe the entire class.
Photography and video recording are strictly prohibited within The Juilliard School. The use of smartphones during class for
any purpose is distracting to both students and faculty and is prohibited.
Please complete the form below to request a class observation. Requests to observe class will be considered on a first-come, first-served basis. Please submit your request at least TWO WEEKS prior to your requested observation date. All requests will receive a response at the email address provided on the form. If we are able to accommodate your requested date of visit, you will receive a confirmation message with instructions for your visit. If confirmed, your visit will also include a brief meeting with a representative from the Office of Admissions, who will be able to answer any questions you might have about the Dance Division and the admissions process.
Please note that your visit does not include a tour of the School.
Tours may be scheduled here.
Campus Tour times conflict with the dance class schedule and CANNOT be scheduled for the same date.
